Introduction
Home safety starts long before an emergency occurs.
With this objective, the Casares City Council and the Iturri Foundation are launching a key initiative for fire prevention: the free installation of smoke detectors accompanied by basic training on how to act in case of a fire.
A simple action, but with a direct impact on protecting lives.
An Initiative Focused on Prevention
Domestic fires remain one of the most frequent emergencies. In many cases, the greatest risk is not the fire itself, but not detecting it in time.
Therefore, this initiative seeks to:
improve home safety
reduce the risk of fires
raise public awareness about prevention
Because a few seconds can make a difference.
Who is this Action Aimed At?
This initiative is especially designed for more vulnerable groups:
elderly people
families with a member with a disability
The goal is to ensure that those who need it most can have basic safety tools in their homes.
Basic Fire Prevention Training
In addition to detector installation, practical and accessible training will be offered by volunteer firefighters, covering key aspects such as:
How to Act if a Smoke Detector Sounds
stay calm
identify the source
evacuate if necessary
First Steps in Case of a House Fire
notify emergency services
avoid smoke exposure
close doors to limit spread
Everyday Prevention
avoid electrical overloads
check installations
have an evacuation plan
With basic knowledge, anyone can make a difference.
Free Smoke Detector Installation
One of the key points of the project is the free installation of detectors, essential devices for detecting fires in their early stages.
They alert quickly to the presence of smoke
They allow for a faster reaction
They increase the chances of a safe evacuation
Even if you cannot attend the in-person training, participants can request their detector, which will be installed in their home along with basic usage instructions.
Collaboration That Adds Safety
This initiative has been made possible by the joint work of several entities:
Casares City Council
Iturri Foundation
Volunteer firefighters from the NGO Bomberos Búsqueda y Rescate (Firefighters Search and Rescue)
A collaboration that demonstrates how joining forces allows for the development of projects with a real impact on society.

Conclusion
The best emergency is one that is prevented.
The installation of smoke detectors along with prevention training is a key tool for protecting homes and saving lives.
From here, we want to highlight the value of these types of initiatives that enhance citizen safety and promote a culture of prevention.
Because when it comes to fires... anticipation is the best response.
