We Installed Smoke Detectors in Casares Alongside Fundación Iturri and the City Council

Smoke Detector Installation in Casares: Prevention That Saves Lives

A few days ago, we discussed something simple yet vital on our blog: the importance of installing smoke detectors at home. Today, we have something even more significant to share: we've put it into practice.

From our NGO, alongside Fundación Iturri and the Casares City Council, we have conducted a smoke detector installation day in homes within the municipality of Casares.

A direct, real, and above all, necessary action.

A Day of Prevention in the Heart of the Town

During the day, our team, comprised of firefighters from the NGO itself and personnel from the Casares city council, visited various homes in the municipality performing:

  • Smoke detector installation

  • Basic home safety checks

  • Simple explanations on their use and maintenance

But, above all, we did something crucial: we spoke with people.

Because beyond the device, the important thing is that they know what to do, how to act, and why this can make a difference.

Much More Than Installing a Device

Every detector we install is an opportunity to prevent a tragedy.

As we explained in our previous article, smoke is the primary cause of fatalities in domestic fires. And in many cases, everything happens while people are asleep.

Therefore, the detector is not just an appliance:
It is an alarm that can give you those life-saving seconds.

During the installations, we clearly explained:

  • Where to place the detector (ceiling and areas near bedrooms)

  • How to check that it is working

  • When to replace the device

  • What to do in case it sounds

Small pieces of knowledge that can have a huge impact.

The Importance of Reaching Those Who Need It Most

This initiative is especially focused on individuals and families in vulnerable situations.

We know that, often, these types of preventive measures do not reach all homes. That is why we believe it is essential to bring them closer, explain them, and, above all, make them accessible.

Collaboration with organizations like Fundación Iturri and the Casares City Council has been key to carrying out this action.

Real Prevention, Real Impact

What we experienced in Casares is not just a one-off event.

It is another step towards a culture of prevention that we want to gradually extend to more places.

Because the reality is clear:

  • A detector costs little

  • Its installation is simple

  • But its impact can be enormous

And if we also accompany it with information and awareness, the effect multiplies.

We Continue Working

This is just the beginning.

Our goal is to continue bringing this initiative to more municipalities, continue collaborating with committed organizations, and, above all, continue helping more homes become safe places.

A Small Gesture That Can Change Everything

If there is one thing we want to take away from this experience, it is this:

Prevention saves lives.

And sometimes, it starts with something as simple as installing a smoke detector on a house ceiling.

In a few days, we will share more about the detectors that can help us save lives in our own homes.
